This dress is inspired by a stunning original purchased many moons ago in Melbourne! Sadly it only fitted me once, so I’ve redesigned it with more wriggle room for comfort. I’d say it’s late forties through to mid fifties in style - definitely after 1947. It is a little deceptive as it’s not quite a full circle. It’s more fitted from the waist to the high hip line, where mock pocket flaps sit over an abundance of lovely pleats. It makes a great dancing skirt and it doesn’t always need your biggest petticoats. While the pocket flaps are for decoration there are real pockets hidden in the folds. (The pleats proved too heavy to combine with a pocket!) It features a flattering cross over bustline above a shaped bodice. The skirt starts at the natural waist. The sleeves are slightly capped for ease of wear This, our first colourway, is big bunches of red roses on a ivory background. Modelled by: Gemma Seagar100% Cotton Machine washable. Made in the UK |
